Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan to step into Jaya-Amitabh Bachchan’s shoes for ‘Abhimaan’ remake?

What do you think about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan reprising the roles of Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan in the remake of popular 1973 film ‘Abhimaan’? Rumours were rife that a remake of the film that got Jaya Bachchan a Best Actress Filmfare Award, was being offered to Junior Bachchan and his superstar wife.
In a Facebook chat, Abhishek confronted those rumours head on. Much to fan's disappointment, the star assured that Ash and he would not be seen in the film's remake as he felt that "there is a magic about the film that should be left". Abhishek asserted that it’s his favourite film from among his parents’ movies together and that a remake would be "very difficult". Hence, it should better be left alone.
On the work front, Aishwarya will now be seen with Anil Kapoor in ‘Fanney Khan’ while Abhishek is working on JP Dutta’s ‘Paltan’.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge - A classic love story, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or DDLJ, as it is popularly known, is considered to be one of the best love stories of Hindi cinema. Directed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ has Shah Rukh Khan romancing Kajol in true blue Bollywood style. SRK and Kajol became Bollywood's golden couple post the success of the film. Although Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is inspired from Aditya Chopra's cult classic, we cannot imagine the film ever being remade. While the famous climax sequence has been recreated on celluloid, many times over the years, we hope no one attempts to tinker with this piece of cinematic brilliance.

Andaaz Apna Apna: Talks of a sequel to this cult comedy are doing the rounds for quite some time now. The debate if Aamir and Salman should reprise their roles of if younger actors like Ranbir and Imran should step into their shoes has also been on. The film has achieved cult status over the years. From the film's dialogue to zany songs and hilarious characters and situations, Andaaz Apna Apna managed to deliver on every front. We seriously hope that a remake is not attempted as the effortlessness of the script and the characters is hard to recreate.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro: Satires aren't always made in Bollywood and even the ones that are attempted don't come close to Kundan Shah's Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Starring brilliant actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Satish Shah, Satish Kaushik, Bhakti Barve and many more, the film would be a very difficult one to be remade.

Mr. India: A superhero in his own right, Anil Kapoor's Mr India will have the entire country rooting for it even today. Rumours are rife about a sequel being planned. While a sequel doesn't seem as bad an idea, we definitely hope that no one attempts to remake this film. Finding a Mogambo wouldn't be easy either.

Sadma: Kamal Haasan and Sridevi 's gooseflesh inducing film can be easily termed as a classic. Directed by Balu Mahendra, Sadma is a remake of Balu Mahendra's Tamil film Moondram Pirai. Although the film bombed at the box-office it went on to become a classic. It is almost impossible to beat Kamal Haasan and Sridevi's performance. The manner in which a tragic love story unfolds and finally concludes cannot be recreated ever again and hence, we hope filmmakers keep Sadma out of their list while thinking of remaking classics.

Deewaar: Another film we don't ever want to be remade is the iconic Deewaar starring Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Nirupa Roy. Directed by Yash Chopra and written by the successful duo of Salim-Javed, Deewaar's legendary 'Mere paas maa hain' scene has been recreated many times. However, a full-fledged remake of the film would be very difficult to fathom.

Silsila: Another Yash Chopra classic that we hope isn't tinkered with is Silsila. While the film's story is always considered its USP, in the case of Silsila, it was the casting that proved to be the clincher here. It would be almost impossible to achieve a casting coup like that one again and it is only for this reason that we hope that the film is never remade.

Mera Naam Joker: Raj Kapoor entertained us as a clown in Mera Naam Joker and we feel such intensity is hard to re-create. Mera Naam Joker is about a clown who makes his audience laugh at the cost of his own sorrow. The film marked the debut of Raj Kapoor's son and actor Rishi Kapoor. Considered an all time classic, the film depicts the joys and sorrows of a circus clown. It is next to impossible to ape Raj Kapoor's tearjerker of a performance. Some classics should be left as is and we strongly feel that Mera Naam Joker falls under that category.

Awara: Not just a hit in India, Raj Kapoor and Nargis starrer Awara was a hit in Russia as well. Directed and produced by Raj Kapoor himself, the film is another classic romantic story of a poor boy who falls in love with a rich girl. From the setting to the music, post Awara, love stories in Bollywood have tried to ape and give ode to the classic in their own way. A film like this one can be seen over and over again but we don't think a remake of the same will hold the audiences' attention for long.
